It’s not at all fascinating after about 2 chapters of inner monologue about how much he detests being there and most of it could have been cut out. It’s really interesting to read it in the beginning but after a few pages, you get so tired of seeing and hearing every mundane thing that Edward does at school. The cracks on the cafeteria wall, the thoughts of the other students, the absolute loathing he has for the school. Every detail is described, in the most meticulous way possible. But we’re in his head and because he’s a vampire with heightened senses, he notices EVERYTHING. I expected it to be more of what happens outside of what we already know from the original book. I do think that the first few chapters were very tedious to get through. She manages to capture Edward perfectly and it makes it easy for the reader to fall into this familiar story but from a wholly different point of view. She has this way with words that flows on the page and she makes each character in the book stand out. Meyer is a great writer, there’s no denying that. His age is apparent in the way he speaks and the way he thinks. It had allure that Fifty Shades tried (and failed) to replicate.įrom the start of the book, Edward’s voice is pretty distinct. Even my cousin, who’s never picked up a book since, read the entire Twilight series.
MIDNIGHT SUN STEPHENIE MEYER LEAKED INFO SERIES
This series turned so many ordinary people into readers. Twilight has that effect on a lot of people. I’d waited 10 years for this book and when that piano intro started playing and Stephenie read her dedication out loud, I lost it a little. I must admit, when the audiobook started playing, I got emotional. I was obsessed and I remembered that feeling when I started reading this book. Twilight was the blueprint for the rest of the books that I picked up after that. So when the first few chapters of the original Midnight Sun leaked, I gobbled that shit up and wanted more. I hated Jacob and just wanted more of the vampires. My obsession with Edward was real and thought he was the perfect love interest (cringe). I pretended that I hated it to be edgy but I’d secretly read the books under my duvet, one after the other. When I was about 14/15 years old, I was gripped by the Twilight Frenzy. They are asking for donations to move to higher ground, out of a tsunami and flooding zone. I want to preface my review by saying that Stephenie Meyer has greatly harmed the Quileute tribe by her constant misrepresentation of their culture and her blatant racism against them in her books. The nostalgia for this series is overwhelming but that doesn’t excuse the fact that this book is a dumpster fire memoir of a controlling vampire stalker boyfriend and I’m not here for it. I have to say that this does have to do with the fact that these books shaped my teen years and played the most important role in my reading life, shaping me into the critical reader I am today. She’s now written the same story 3 times and we continue to fall for it every single time. But what can I say about an author who’s not changed at all or acknowledged her problematic actions. I’ve been waiting for Midnight Sun for 10 years and, yes, it did disappoint. Hi there Mouseketeers! I finally finished 756 pages of inner vampire monologue and I’m tired.
